If you give your child a healthy balanced diet with lots of fruit and vegetables, fewer carbohydrates and more protein, then there is no need to supplement this diet with the so-called ADHD alternative vitamins. But let’s say that your child cannot get all this healthy food or that your family routine does not permit such a luxury, then here are the ADHD alternative vitamins you should go for.

The main vitamin groups, A, B ,C and D are all important for the development of the body and the brain. Lots of studies have shown that ADHD kids had an insufficient quantity of Vitamin D which is particularly important for the functioning of the brain. This was the result of a study done at the Children’s Hospital in Oakland CA. Other studies support this and Vitamin D is regarded as a vital element in helping the brain to function normally and that will mean, improved concentration, less impulsivity and better focus.

Vitamin C together with flaxseed oil was fund to be very effective in one study done on a group of children who suffered from hyperactivity and restlessness. As Vitamin C is essential for many bodily and cognitive functions, it is one of the most popular ADHD alternative vitamins.

Although the famous essential fatty acids (EFAs) are not strictly alternative vitamins for ADHD, they nevertheless have come out very well on all the studies done on ADHD children. These are the famous Omega 3 and Omega 6 which are found in fish, olive oil and flaxseed oil.

The above mentioned vitamins are the most important of the ADHD alternative vitamins as they really do affect the central nervous system by enhancing the production of the neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. The correct functioning of these will ensure that our moods are stable, our impulses are checked and we can improve concentration. A good multivitamin is one of the best ways to provide your child with the essential alternative vitamins for ADHD.

If your child is on ADHD medication, ADHD alternative vitamins will NOT be a substitute for that. Neither will they cure ADHD but they will go a long way to help in alleviating ADHD symptoms such as restlessness and fidgeting and helping concentration. You will need to find a reputable supplier where there is a guarantee of the purity and safety of the ingredients. This goes also for a ADHD homeopathic cure which is now widely regarded as a valid alternative to ADHD medication as there are no risks or side effects.

ADHD mental disorder is not the obscure condition many experts thought it was in the early 1980’s. In fact today it is widely accepted as a real condition backed by a mountain of research both in the areas of psychology and biology. But what is an ADHD mental disorder and if diagnosed what are some of the challenges this disorder can present?

ADHD mental disorder impacts both children and adults. For adults facing the challenges of ADHD (inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity/restlessness) the problem more than likely began when they were in preschool or in the early years of elementary school. It is estimated that about 10 percent of school aged children struggle with an ADHD mental disorder, and boys are about three times more likely to be affected as girls. Follow up research points to a continuation of symptoms into adulthood with somewhere between 30 and 80 percent of children who were diagnosed with ADHD mental disorder carrying it forward into adulthood. As a result somewhere around 5 percent of adults face the daily challenges associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

For years the causes associated with the condition were all over the map. Some of the ones most often mentioned were bad parenting, moral defectiveness, where one grew up, brain damage, and exposure to toxins but with the advent of brain scan technology along with a little luck we now know that the once elusive ADHD mental disorder is largely due to biological factors, rather than environmental ones, such as where you grew up. Brain imaging studies of people with ADHD have discovered differences in the part of the brain associated with the control of voluntary movements. Since these types of biological factors tend to be inherited, you have a much greater chance (five times) of having the condition if one of your parents or a member of your immediate family has ADHD. In fact one recent study came to the conclusion that and ADHD mental disorder has a higher risk of being inherited than any other psychiatric disorder. Now let’s move on to the potential problems this condition can cause.

In adults attention deficit hyperactivity disorder can pose serious problems due to the impact of inattention or distractibility. Money problems, family problems, and frequent job changes can wreak havoc and lead to the secondary symptoms of low self esteem and worry or the co-occurring condition of depression.

In children there school work may be messy, with careless mistakes abounding, and an absence of considered though. This probably has lot to do with the 80 percent academic underachievement rate seen in school age children. Additionally, there symptoms if left untreated may have an affect on their ability to learn the basics of reading, writing, and math thus creating an environment for problems in the future.

What Next? When the symptoms of ADHD mental disorder are identified finding help should be the number one goal. In this pursuit many parents of ADHD children and adults alike have found answers in the form of natural ADHD remedies. Whether you are worried about the side effects posed by prescription drugs for ADHD or you want to get to the root of the problem rather than just suppress symptoms, ADHD alternative treatment methods will deliver powerful, lasting results.

People often point the finger at parents when a child is diagnosed ADD, saying that attention deficit is the result of bad parenting. Though an exact cause for the disorder is unknown, it doesn’t stem from bad parenting. Environmental, physical, and genetic factors may be to blame, and these are the reasons:

Environment: Indications are that mothers who smoke and drink while pregnant put their children at risk for ADD. And high levels of lead found in preschoolers are another suspected element, though this environmental danger is diminishing due to the ban on lead-based paints.

Brain trauma: Some children who experience brain injury will exhibit symptoms of attention deficit; yet, only a very small percentage of children with attention deficit ever had brain trauma. In other words, injuries to the brain do not cause attention deficit; it seems to be the other way around.

Sugar and Food Additives: While some blame sugar and food additives for attention deficit, in testing by the National Institutes of Health, neither factor had any effect and they did not worsen the symptoms.

Genetics: If you have ADD, it’s probably true that 25% of your close family has it, too, while it only appears in 5% of the general population.

Brain Differences: People with attention deficit have lower activity in the prefrontal cortex of the brain. This is the brain’s control center and it is known to block certain responses. Also, the caudate nucleus and the globus pallidus, which are located near the center of the brain and speed or stop orders from the prefrontal cortex, plus the cerebellum, which controls muscle tone, balance, and muscle synchronicity, are often smaller in children with ADD. Sometimes, when the child grows, these parts of the brain grow with them and eventually catch up to normal development. In those cases, it has been shown that adult ADD symptoms do not appear.

Many believe that people outgrow ADD, but recent studies show that nearly 60% of ADD children continue to show symptoms of adult ADD. Not all the symptoms may be present or the intensity of some symptoms might weaken with time. But having attention deficit is not a curse, when the ADD traits of creativity and high intelligence are permitted to explore non-traditional methods of life management. If you think you have adult ADD, take a preliminary test at InstantADDSuccess.com, then consult your physician for a complete diagnosis.

One of the symptoms exhibited by children who suffer from ADD/ADHD is being disorganized and having difficulty moving from one task to the next. By helping your child establish a good time management program, you can help assure that he will do better in school and in later life.

Many children who suffer from ADD/ADHD seem to function better if they follow a daily routine. You need to establish a time for specific activities such as mealtimes, homework, and bedtime and keep the same schedule every day. When scheduling a specific time for your child to go to bed, you should be aware that lack of sleep can make attention disorders worse. You should make sure that your child goes to bed early enough to enable him to get the recommended amount of sleep for children in his age group.

You may also want to try to schedule activities in the course of the day that will keep your child busy. Try to plan things that interest him as ADD children seem to focus better on activities that they want to do while their minds tend to wander when doing things that they are not interested in. You may want to plan projects that require your child to use his hands. Experts have noticed that children who suffer from ADD/ADHD seem to relax if they holding something that they can stroke with their hands, such as a stuffed animal or a lap pillow. When planning these activities you should not overwhelm your child with too many things to do in one day. Scheduling too many activities for an ADD/ADHD child can agitate the symptoms of this disorder.

Another way that you can help your child manage his ADD symptoms is to make sure that he has a place to go that is quiet and private. Because of his disorder, your child is bombarded by outside stimuli all day long. Ensuring that he has a place that is quiet with a minimum of noise and distractions can help your child to relax and can also help him to train his body to sit still for extended periods of time.

There are several ways that you can help your child to organize and manage his time. The first step that you need to take is to organize your home so that your child will know where different things should be. You should also make sure that your child has a specific place to do his homework that is away from any distractions. Depending on the amount of homework that your child may have, you will probably want to have him take several short breaks during his homework time. You may also want to purchase him a special notebook for recording his homework assignments so he does not forget any of them.

Many ADD/ADHD children become stressed if they are rushed. One way to avoid this is to have your child lay out his clothes for school the night before. You should also make sure that his schoolwork is located in a place where he can easily grab it on his way out. You can also avoid upsetting your child by making sure that he is awake early enough in the morning so that he does not feel as if there is a big rush to get out the door.

All children need some routines and structure in their lives, but this is especially true for children that suffer from ADD/ADHD. These youngsters feel insecure and anxious if they do not know what they are supposed to do next. By giving your ADD child a scheduled routine, he will feel less anxious and stressed and this will eventually build his self esteem. After he learns this routine, you may be surprised to see some of his symptoms lessen slightly. A little effort on your part now can enable you to help your ADD/ADHD child grow into a confident and healthy adult.

The largest and best study of ADD treatment and ADHD treatments of its kind was conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Were the initial results the final story? Should they have been? The professional community treated these initial results as if they were the last word on ADD treatment or ADHD treatments. It was called the Multi-modal Treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder study or the (MTA) study. This study received great praise from seemingly all the professionals at the time. It is extremely highly regarded. They released initial results in February of 2001. However, they released follow up results in 2009. What were these initial results? What were the treatment groups of that study? What was the sample size (the larger the better because scientists take the results more seriously)? How did these initial results accentuate a trend toward medicating kids with ADHD? How do these initial results differ starkly from those of the follow up study of 2009? You will have to watch Show 9 to find out.

Seeking out alternative solutions for kids with ADHD is one of the smartest things you will ever do. Unfortunately, 1 to 3 out of every 30 children will develop ADHD. Some will find a successful treatment, while others will struggle with the illness well into adulthood. Out of the children affected with the illness, the majority of them will have issues dealing with authority figures, although, not by choice.

So do you think your child’s ADHD is a problem? If you answered yes, then you are right. If a child who suffers from ADHD doesn’t obtain the right treatment, he or she may not ever be able to experience life to it’s fullest potential. The child will always have to suffer with emotional difficulties and have trouble concentrating on important things. The good news is that there are alternative solutions for kids with ADHD, rather than unnatural and potentially dangerous ones.

If you have been treating your child with prescription medications, then you know how difficult life can be for the both of you. There is always a hint of anxiety that comes along when giving your child another medication. Most of the time, they never work because of the side effects. Trying something new and similar to the previous failed treatment can literally be a nightmare every single time. No parent wants their child to endure anymore pain than what they are already dealing with, especially if all they want is for their child to get better.

Approximately 50% of all children who have ADHD already experience sleep problems due to their hyperactivity. Amazingly enough, one of the main side effects of most prescription drugs is insomnia and nervousness. Obviously, it doesn’t make sense. And that is why parents are interested in alternative treatments ADHD can be very hard to deal with, mainly because the illness is so complex.

Millions of parents have found success with using alternative solutions for kids with ADHD such as Passion Flower and 5HTP, just to name a few. Why are these remedies so effective? Because they help to calm and refocus the child’s concentration by correcting various brain chemicals affected by the illness. They basically do the same thing as prescription medications do, but do not bring any harm whatsoever to the child’s mind or body.

Another one of the alternative solutions for kids with ADHD is to eliminate certain foods from their diet. Processed foods as well as those that are high in sugar can aggravate ADHD. Sugar tends to interfere with a person’s mood, especially when the blood sugar comes crashing back down. A child who has ADHD may become overly hyperactive and then very irritated once they are coming down from the “high”. This can lead to an overall aggressive attitude and even more difficulty coping with life. This is something that most children do not realize, and that is why the parents are the ones who need to pay attention.

Examine your child’s overall lifestyle. In what situations does he or she do best in? What are their weaknesses? Do they go off the deep end after eating a chocolate bar? Pay attention to what your child is like without medication because it will help you to uncover what aspects of the illness they are struggling with the most. Discovering the aspects that are hardest to deal with is the best way to find alternative solutions for kids with ADHD.
