Adding a graphic to a web page is fairly easy especially with WYSIWYG editors. Several people however have asked me about creating a hyperlink. This way visitors to your web page can click the graphic and get to the target web page….

What is a Graphic?

For you total newbies (not a bad thing we were all there at one time) a graphic is a picture used in advertising and web pages. The old adage a picture’s worth 1000 words isn’t any less true today than when it was first said. Graphics not only convey more information for both explanations and results, they keep your prospects’ attention and help them to continue to read your web page.

How Do I Add a Graphic to My Web Page?

Let’s assume (yes I know) your web page is on your hard drive. Okay if you’re a total newbie I mean let’s assume it’s on your computer. If it’s not open up your web page editor on your web server in html code mode so you see what may appear to you as a bunch of gibberish. WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editors can add hyperlinks using a menu driven interface, but that would defeat the purpose of learning how to do this so you can move past any confines the editor may have.

Here’s How to Open Your HTML File With Notepad

Find your local web page on your computer

PC users right mouse click on your local web page

Left mouse click on Open with

Left mouse click on Notepad

If your successful there’s that gibberish I discussed with you earlier.

Find some text you recognize. Just concentrate. If this slightly ADHD boy can do it so can you.

Now, for the purposes of this article ( will actually be < . If I don’t do it that way this web page will think I’m adding a graphic or hyperlink. If you want your graphic to be on a line on its own add (br) (remember what I said) before and after your graphic code or (p) then (/p) afterwards.. Now add this code (BR)(IMG SRC=”YourGraphicWithNoSpaces.jpg” ALIGN=LEFT WIDTH=200 HEIGHT=200)(BR)

The width and height part the graphic are not necessary if you’re going to use the actual size of the graphic. Caution is advised here. Changing the width and height of a graphic doesn’t decrease the load time. The graphic is still technically the same size.

What is a Hyperlink?

A hyperlink is the term used when a web page offers a link to another web page or download. Most hyperlinks are traditionally blue and underlined. You can tell when text or a graphic is hyperlinked by placing your mouse over it. The mouse cursor changes from an arrow to a finger. In most cases, if you look at the bottom of your web page you can see the web page or download to which the hyperlink is targeted. When you left mouse click on it, your browser is directed to that web page or the download begins.

Why Do I Need to Learn to Make Hyperlinks

Hyperlinks are how your visitors will navigate your web site including clicking on your order link if you have a sales page. Unless you have a single informational web page, you need hyperlinks in order for your visitors to go anywhere else on your web site.

Okay, How Do I Make a Hyperlink in a Graphic for Another Web Page

Let’s assume (yes I know) once again your web page is on your hard drive.

If your successful there’s that gibberish you saw earlier.

Okay, The Web Page is Open. I See The Gibberish What Now?

Now remember, for the purposes of this article ( will actually be < . If I don’t do it that way this web page will think I’m adding a hyperlink and graphic and you won’t be able to see the code.

Find the graphic you made earlier and alter to code to this

(BR)(A HREF=”UrlLinkVisitorsGoWhenTheyClickYourGraphic”)(IMG SRC=”YourGraphicWithNoSpaces.jpg” WIDTH=75 HEIGHT=38)(/A)(br)

This code is what hyperlinked your graphic (a href=”TheWebPageAddress”)My graphic (/a) (/a) is what anchors the graphic or text the the hyperlink

That’s it! Save your work and open your web page. Find your new hyperlinked graphic you placed and click on it. The web page you linked to replaced your present one!

That’s Great Rick! Now How Do I Make The Hyperlink Open a New Browser Window So My Old Page Stays Open As Well?

I can still remember asking that very question many years ago.

Remember the previous html code I taught you? Go back if you need to. Now add one more thing to it

(BR)(A HREF=”UrlLinkVisitorsGoWhenTheyClickYourGraphic” target = “_blank” )(IMG SRC=”YourGraphicWithNoSpaces.jpg” WIDTH=75 HEIGHT=38)(/A)(br) target = “_blank” is what opens the new browser window. Actually it doesn’t have to say _blank. It could say anything that is not an actual internal name on your target page. Never mind about that part. If you were ready for that you wouldn’t be reading this article. Suffice to say you could replace _blank with about anything you like.

Conclusion

Yes you can hire someone to design a web page for you and to make it look professional it’s not a bad idea especially if you felt a need to read this article, but as both a businessman and teacher, I have to ask you, don’t you think you should eventually learn everything you can about your own business?

It is not compulsory for any very active person, which lacks attention or proves himself/herself impulsive to be affected by ADHD. It is difficult even for the specialists to determine whether is ADHD,considering that many healthy people may be distracted, may forget things or speak too much spontaneously in certain situations.

The fact that various people present characteristics of such behavior ,the establishment of the diagnoses must be demonstrated in relation to the age of the person in question. There are settled guidelines and requirements to identify a genuine case of ADHD. The specific behavioral features appear in this case from childhood ,in the first seven years of life ,and continuously manifest for 6 months. A real handicap must be generated in at least 2 important fields: school, family, friends, community, society to recognize the disease. In absence of this handicap, even if the person shows other symptoms,it is not ADHD. Not any normal, energetic child should receive this diagnosis.

A series of critical questions require answers,to determine the existence or the absence of the disease:whether the behavioral features are in excess, persistent and long-termed,whether they are more present than in other children of that age ,whether the problem is a permanent one ,whether the place determines one specific behavior. These answers will be confronted to the criteria of the DSM-IV-TR.

Few Simple Behavioral Interventions

In order to provide the needed help to children with ADHD in organizing, the following actions should be taken into consideration:

Providing a schedule. Creating a routine every day, from wake-up time to bedtime. A variety of actions should be included in the schedule, homework time and playtime, both outdoor and indoor activities. The schedule will be placed on the refrigerator or a bulletin board where it can be easily seen. Changes in that schedule will be announced long time before they will take place. Writing down the assignment is important. Also, using organizers for the homework, books and notebooks may come in handy, the daily needed items. Have a designated place for everything and keep everything in its place: backpacks, school supplies, clothing, etc.

Some rewards, praises, as well as critics, are needed every time the well established rules are understood and followed or not followed.

If I were to ask you what you understand by ‘natural supplements for ADHD’, you would probably come up with some of the following :- iron, magnesium, Vitamin C, Omega3 and a few others. All correct. Well, sort of, because natural treatment for ADHD (or ADD) does not just mean stuffing your child with these supplements. It would be great if we could do that – 3 pills a day and Johnny is going to be just fine – think of Michael Phelps, the latest ADHD poster boy!

The downside of ADHD is that if it is not treated properly then children are at risk of dropping out at school, have sex at a very early age (very often unprotected with all the problems which that brings), be involved in road accidents and maybe start taking drugs. But if an ADHD child is supported by parents and teachers and helped to direct their talents in the right direction, then they can be enormously successful. That is Mrs Phelps’ advice !

The research done at the European Paediatric Hospital in Paris is very interesting. They took 50 kids (aged 4 -14) who had ADHD and examined the level of their ferritin. As the name suggest, ferritin is a protein that stores iron. They compared this group of kids with another group who had no symptoms of ADHD. Not surprisingly the ADHD kids (85% of them!) were found to have very low levels of ferritin – in other words, an iron deficiency. The control group were fine – only about 20% of them were low in iron. Now, before you dash out to buy some iron pills or spinach for your kids, you should bear in mind that it is more than likely that these kids were generally nutritionally deficient and therefore a properly balanced diet is the simple answer. So, cut back on caffeine – found in chocolate and coffee and some fizzy drinks like coke, avoid pop and any snack foods with artificial colourings.

Look what happened at Appleton Alternative High School in Wisconsin recently The school cafeteria menu was radically changed – lots of fruit and veggies and whole grains without any processed foods and no artificial colourings ands the drinks machine had bottles of water ! The result ? The kids behaviour dramatically improved and there was a big drop in truancy and other behaviour related problems.

So, apart from certain diet changes which will fall mainly on the parents’ shoulders – eg. prepaing a packed lunch for school, you will still have to decide if you want to go down the natural treatment road for ADHD rather than treat your child with psychostimulants which cause the FDA regular headaches. Have a look at the warnings on the boxes of pills – they are scary!

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a safe effective natural treatment for ADHD? Have you considered homeopathic treatment for ADHD which will not cost you an arm and a leg? Well, this treatment is readily available and you can find out more about it from the link below. They also offer a one year guarantee – now, how many companies do you know who do that?

Ever wondered how different ADHD new medication is? You’d think that the new medications that come out are somehow improvements upon the older ones but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. All of the new medications have equally risky side effects that you need to carefully consider before giving your child prescription drugs.

The best medication for ADHD is not going to be the same for everyone. Some people respond well to some drugs and others don’t. Some people may have severe side effects from a certain drug and others may not notice a big difference. It’s important that you never let anyone force you into the decision to give your child prescription drugs for ADHD.

For treatment of ADHD new medication after new medication comes out and doctors are eager to prescribe them. The problem is that it’s important to address all lifestyle factors that could be contributing to your child’s condition rather than trying to just cover up the symptoms with drugs. Drugs are certainly helpful in treating some cases of ADHD but they should be looked at as a last resort because of their dangerous side effects.

While it’s true that no medication is the best medication for ADHD for everyone, plenty of studies point to the fact that children with ADHD benefit greatly from a healthy lifestyle, dietary control, behavioral therapy, and a homeopathic remedy. These simple lifestyle changes and treatments are much better than medications because they are completely safe and inexpensive.

You may hear about an ADHD new medication and get tempted to try it but the truth is that it won’t be any different from the last. All ADHD medications, new and old, report heart-related problems, psychiatric problems, and risk of sudden death as some of the possible side effects. If you want to avoid the dangers of medication and see if natural treatment and lifestyle change can alleviate the symptoms of ADHD in your child, give it a go. You have nothing to lose.

Rather than attempting to find the best medication for ADHD and look to prescription drugs as if they were a cure-all, take a hard look at your child’s lifestyle. How is his diet? Is he getting enough exercise? Does he get enough sleep? It’s important to consider the areas of his lifestyle that may need improvement in order to effectively treat ADHD.

While it might sound nice to have a quick fix with an ADHD new medication, you will have real, long term results with natural treatment and lifestyle change. Give your child a homeopathic remedy. Make sure to cut any possible allergens out of his diet. Ensure that he is getting plenty of exercise and find a therapist to help him overcome harmful thought patterns and behavior.

Believe me. These simple steps will help your child achieve permanent recovery and good health; something that no ADHD new medication will be able to do. If you want to help your child overcome ADHD for good, it’s important that you look beyond just suppressing the symptoms and get to the root of the underlying problem.
