It is startling to know that 3 to 7 percent of children in the US suffer from ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This means it affects over 2 million children in America, that is, one in every class of 25 would have ADHD. This condition is usually diagnosed in the pre-school and early school years. Children with these symptoms are unusually fidgety and restless. They could even have problems paying attention in school, waiting in lines or taking turns. Some children could be very aggressive. ADHD is usually diagnosed more in boys that girls, but that could be because girls tend to be quieter and less aggressive than boys. In girls it could manifest itself as talkativeness rather than aggression.

The U.S. Surgeon General has defined ADHD as a metabolic form of encephalopathy. The disease weakens the release and homeostasis of neurological chemicals, reducing the function of the limbic system. Other relevant research however points out that some part of the brain could be involved. These are the frontal lobes, their connections to the basal ganglia, the central aspects of the cerebellum and the middle or medial aspect of the frontal lobe.

Four types of ADHD types have been recognized. These are the Predominantly Inattentive, Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive, and Combined Type of ADHD (hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive) and ADHD Not Otherwise Specified. As a person gets older, the symptoms of ADHD could reduce, but many children diagnosed with ADHD retain this disorder into adulthood too. It is then known as Adult Attention-Deficit Disorder or AADD. In adults, it manifests itself in the need to be physically busy all time, excessive talking, interrupting others, risk taking, speaking out without regard to the consequences and even daydreaming.

The research into the causes of ADHD has thrown up a number of issues. Primarily it seems that both genetic and environmental factors play a role in ADHD. Significantly, research has shown that many critical food deficiencies could cause the problem. These could be as varied as deficiency of essential Omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidant vitamins like Vitamin C, iron and even zinc. This suggests a role for suppmentation in the treatment of ADHD

Omega 3 deficiency may lead to behavioral problems that are linked with ADHD. Some ADHD children show other symptoms connected with Omega 3 deficiency, such as dry skin and hair, thirst and even frequent urination. Trials in supplementing Omega 3 in children with ADHD revealed some surprising results. Over a period of time, fish oil supplements were given to a group of children and a placebo to another set. The children with fish oil supplements showed remarkable improvements in attentiveness and other attributes. Academic results were much better with better scores in reading, spelling, mathematics and other skills. No such improvements were seen in children given the placebo. Thus Omega 3 rich supplements such as fish oil could be a solution to help children with ADHD. Some researchers feel babies who are breast-fed have a lower chance of developing ADHD later because it is rich in Omega 3.

Children with ADHD usually suffer from food allergies. They could be losing vital vitamins, iron and even zinc because of their allergy to dairy products, wheat, corn, yeast, soy, citrus, eggs, chocolate, peanuts and artificial colors and preservatives. It has been seen that ADHD children lose zinc when exposed to a food dye. In a study that eliminated these allergens in the diet of some children, the majority of the children showed lower levels of hyperactivity. Once these were added back to diet, the problems associated with ADHD once again returned.

Research has also shown that iron levels are low in children suffering from ADHD. The children’s serum ferritin levels were measured to determine their iron status. It was seen that one-third of the ADHD children had a very low range of iron levels. It was noticed that the lower the iron levels, the higher were the severity of the ADHD symptoms. The researchers concluded that low iron stores might explain some ADHD cases. Iron supplements could be given but proper testing is required before doing so, because excess iron stored in the body can cause several other problems.

Supplements of zinc and zinc sulpahate have proved successful in the treatment of ADHD in small trials – more results are awaited. In the mean time, a good idea would be to remove additives from the diet along with all foods that the child could be allergic to. This could improve the absorption of natural zinc present in foods.

Vitamin C could also be supplemented in the treatment of ADHD, because sometimes it is not easily absorbed from natural foods. However, once again it might be good idea to remove additives and allergy-causing foods from the diet. This would result in better Vitamin C absorption.

Most ADHD children are on some prescribed drug or the other. Should drug interactions with dietary supplements be a concern? New research indicates that more often than not, mixing doesn’t produce side effects that are serious enough to warrant concern.

Most research indicates that a balanced diet rich in omega 3, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, free from toxins, would be beneficial in the treatment of ADHD in children. What goes in seems to be so important to the proper functioning of the body and mind.

Many psychiatrists have placed themselves on top of the pedestal as the last bastion of help; as experts in the field of the mind; as those who know best when it comes to raising children, fixing relationships, handling depression, judging sanity and insanity, educational failures and so much more. They hold degrees from higher institutions to back up these claims and they demand high hourly fees or are highly paid witnesses.

Interestingly enough they hold the distinction of having the highest rate of insurance fraud convictions and the highest rate of suicide amongst their own ranks. A large number of their own families and they themselves suffer from many of their own made-up diseases that they claim they can cure yet this profession still purports that they can help the rest of us.

MEET THE PSYCHIATRISTS.

These are the people who are driving drugs into the schools; who are excusing poor scholastic performance under the guise of “feel-good” education; who routinely bilk healthcare insurers (and thereby the public) of millions of dollars a year in spurious “treatments” which yield demonstrably negative results and in many cases do not occur at all. These are the people who advocate torture in the form of electroshock and who have tasked themselves with reorganizing the way the world educates its young and deals with its “abnormals”. Yet these are also the people who not only cannot agree on definitions of the diseases they claim to be able to treat, but openly admit that they don’t know what they’re doing.

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE who actively seek to wreck our culture and our civilization by legitimizing a viewpoint that treats man as an animal, incapable of improvement and doomed to a life of limitations. In the hands of psychiatrists, Beethoven would have been tranquilized, Rembrandt lobotomized, and Jesus Christ given ECT, put in restraints and locked away, never to see the sky again.

IF YOU ARE WONDERING why the world seems to be coming apart at the seams, why crime, illiteracy, drug abuse and moral decline, depression, suicides, psychotic behaviour, divorce, etc. continue to make headlines daily, and why those who SAY they can do something about mental health CANNOT, you are not alone.

IF YOU WANT to find out about psychiatry, you can’t do much better than listen to the psychiatrists themselves. They will tell you exactly what they think about the human condition, what can be done about it, and how they believe the sane man (and therefore the ideal society) should function.

DON’T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT: Others have come to their senses and know exactly what’s going on. Those few who have the courage to speak out against the majority in their profession deserve attention as well.

“What’s happening in the training of psychiatrists and in the quality of a psychiatrist is that they have become drug pushers. They have … forgotten how to sit down and talk to patients as to what their problems are.” – Walter Afield, psychiatrist, 1994
“… in 40 years, ‘biological psychiatry’ has yet to validate a single psychiatric condition/diagnosis as an abnormality/disease, or as anything ‘neurological’, ‘biological’, ‘chemically imbalanced’, or ‘genetic’.” Dr. Fred A. Baughman Jr., Pediatric Neurologist “Malpractice and Violation of Informed Consent”

“… modern psychiatry has yet to convincingly prove the genetic/biological cause of any single mental illness … Patients [have] been diagnosed with ‘chemical imbalances’ despite the fact that no test exists to support such a claim, and … there is no real conception of what a correct chemical balance would look like.” – David Kaiser, psychiatrist; “Commentary Against Biological Psychiatry” – Psychiatric Times, December 1996

“What do you do when you don’t know what to do? No wonder there are more suicides among psychiatrists than in any other profession.” Psychiatrist R. D. Laing – Wisdom, Madness, and Folly, p. 126
“The way to sell drugs is to sell psychiatric illness.” – Carl Elliot, Bioethicist ; University of Minnesota, 2001

“We don’t have an independent, valid test for ADHD; there are no data to indicate that ADHD is due to a brain malfunction … and finally, after years of clinical research and experience with ADHD, our knowledge about the cause or causes of ADHD remains speculative.” – National Institute of Health; Consensus Conference on the Diagnosis; and Treatment of ADHD, 1998

“The field of mental health is highly subjective, capricious, and dominated by whims, mythologies, and public relations. In many ways it is a pop culture with endless fads but with no real substance.” Dr. Walter Fisher – Assistant Superintendent, Elgin State Hospital – Power, Greed, and Stupidity in the Mental Health Racket

“The young and the old are defenseless against relatives who want to get rid of them by casting them into the role of mental patient, and against psychiatrists whose livelihood depends on defining them as mentally ill.” – Thomas Szasz, psychiatrist ; Cruel Compassion, 1994

The headlines of today’s newspapers tell tales of people driven to acts that can only be termed insane: students who come to school armed for mayhem, workers who blaze away at their fellows, killers stalking innocent victims for no reason at all, mothers who kill their innocent children.

But if these people are driven to madness, who’s doing the driving? Digging deeper into the scene, one finds time and again evidence of psychiatrists hard at work, causing the very insanity that they claim to be able to treat. Evidence: Adolf Hitler (yes… he was being treated by psychiatry BEFORE the Holocaust!); Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, George Washington (yes, he too died at the hands of psychiatric treatment!), Ernest Hemingway, John Hinckley (prior to shooting John Lennon!), Kip Kinkel, Columbine shooters, Andrea Yates, Shawn Cooper, and the list can go on for miles… More than 80% of suicides are PRECEDED by the use of psychiatric type treatments (drugs, therapy, etc.).

Why am I writing this article now? Because I’m frustrated of having to clean up and educate the very people that so many psychs have ruined. And make no mistake about it… it’s virtually everyone… we have become a nation of fast fixes, “no responsibility”, “spectators to life”, lacking a true view of ourselves as spiritual beings, humanoids! We view our bodies as “who we are” instead of the thing separate from us that we are in control of. We look for sensations and pleasures. We get our education from the TV commercials about what drugs to tell our doctors we want to ingest that will hopefully change our lives… instead of changing our lifestyles! There is not one person who has not been influenced by psychiatric propaganda. (except the few who have risen above it and are willing to step outside the box and get educated.

The side effects of anti-depressants and drugs like Ritalin, Adderall, Zoloft, Prozac, etc. will fill pages: suicide ideology, blocks the production of hormones, depression, headaches, addiction, high blood pressure, weight gain, impotence, sleep disturbances, itching, dry mouth, dizziness, gastritis, and the list goes on and on… These drugs do more damage and have yet to CURE anyone of the so-called mental diseases.

Our recent culture has been marred greatly by the underhanded dealings of psychiatrists… but as you noticed earlier in this article… there are a few brave souls out there within that profession who have taken a stand against their own group.

You as a consumer or natural health practitioner/consultant simply do not have to bow down to their domination any longer. There are solutions out there that are natural and work. Sure… you may be in such a mess right now that you still want that quick fix… I understand. Now let me point something out to you… there is not A PILL that will handle your life for you. Only YOU can handle your own life.
There is no such thing as ADD or ADHD. There is no disease of Alcoholism. There is no disease of being BI-POLAR. There is no disease of being Manic-Depressed. YES, there are SYMPTOMS! That I know. But they are NOT diseases that need mind altering addictive drugs… those drugs CURE NOTHING! Never have, never will. And YES… fixing the problem takes work.

I understand that not everyone reading this or everyone out there will rise to the occasion and do what they have to do to help themselves reach health and happiness. I understand that I might step on the toes of some doctors. I understand that some of you simply still want the quick fix. But for those of you who are determined to get your life back, determined to do something about it, determined to not live a life drugged, dulled, and numbed… well… you are the ones we in the natural health field want to help.

DESPITE ALL that the psychiatrists and their cohorts would have you believe, remember that there is hope. No one is doomed to a life bound by drugs, shock, psychosurgery, or worse. No society or individual is doomed to the degradation of going to “Hell in a hand-basket”. Much can be done to help the individual naturally. I urge all doctors to learn the truth and quite treating symptoms alone. I urge all patients to sit up, take notice that continuing to do the same thing over and over again simply will not result in a change! Get educated. Become pro-active. Take control of your health and find a natural health practitioner that will assist you in preventing and rebuilding.

I have read many articles about about certain treatments that can work effectively but how do I find some details? We are changing my son’s diet and sticking with a more structured routine at home. We are also getting him involved in some activities such as swimming lessons now and t-ball in the summer. I am looking for a website, group, blog, anything that can offer support on my decision to not use medication.

I can’t help with website. but I can offer my 2 cents. As grandmother. My grandson age 10 has it. They put him on meds. he licks his chin as side effect. It’s pitiful It’s always chapped and scabbed.I think he is on too much meds. No one asked me though. you know this is got to affect his pride and self esteem with other children.

I noticed that when I’m in school I’m constantly moving. my leg is either shaking or im shaking my pen in my hand or I’m thinking of a rhythm in my head and tapping my toes to it. when I try to stop shaking my leg it only works for a short period of time…I was just wondering if this might be symptoms of ADHD?
But i’ll also be completely relaxed yet still shaking my leg…its not nerves..

Sounds like you’re just nervous.

i am married and have two children. i am a chef, meaning i work in an industry that rarely supplies health care. with the slump in the economy i am left with just enough money to make my mortgage and put food on the table. though i have little money, i make just enough for the state to decline me for medicaid. i was diagnosed with ADD at age 15 and began a schedule of 30 mg. a day. as soon as this started i noticed an improvement in my grades and ambition to apply myself in a more productive way. this lasted for 4 years. then i was without means to continue to see my dr.
i have read up on buying adderall without a prescription only to find that it seems to be a hoax. when i inquire further to people about this topic the only results i find are complete strangers labeling me a drug addict. that, i am not. i am a hard working husband and father of two who deals with a medical condition day in and day out. i am simply looking for some type of aid for the treatment of my condition. the stress i experience comes solely from my lack of focus. i have many pressures and things that need my attention….attention that i can not apply.

You can try Dexedrine alone but it just doesn’t have enough "kick" as Adderall. What I suggest is trying Vyvance. It is made by the same people that make Adderall. There is a patient assistance program if you are under a certain poverty cut off you can get it free, here it is: https://www.rxhope.com/PAP/info/PAPList.aspx?drugid=4691&fieldType=drugid

Your Doctor should also know this. Once you fill the half page form out & your Doctor fills the rest out & faxes it in, it only takes a few weeks & it’s good for a year or more.

Halloween is a special time of year for many people. It’s your chance to be a kid again and pretend to be someone or something you’re not. Sure, as adults, we can play these games whenever and wherever we want, but on Halloween we can take the time to go all out and create an environment that we might not be able to get away with otherwise. If you have kids, for example, Halloween is the perfect time of year to let loose and not have to worry about playing dress-up when you are locked behind a closed door.

There are so many things you can do to spice up your sex life and it should be noted that toys are just one of those things. If you are new to the toy game you may be slightly bewildered as you look over the websites or racks at a local adult store. There are so many things to offer and so many things to try, but how does one choose that special toy?

Truth be told, it may be a combination of toys not just one in particular that you may be looking to purchase. Each toy creates a special sensation. If you are looking to create a magical night, which fits in well with the theme of Halloween, then consider what you want to accomplish. Only then can you look for the toys to help make this happen.

First things first, when you are deciding what toys you are interested in you should consider the theme of the evening. Purchase toys you will have additional uses for during other sexual exploits after Halloween is over. You want to know you are getting your monies worth, so buy things you are certain you or your partner may be interested in using more than once.

There are many ideas and options to choose from so keep that in mind when you are shopping. The following ideas are suitable for standard Halloween excitement, but they can also be used at any time of year when a little excitement is needed in your relationship.

Furniture, Wedges, and Other Display Items: If you are looking for a night of hot sex, items like foam wedges can be purchased at my shop. These are excellent because they help you get into intense positions, comfortably. You will have a much easier time achieving g spot stimulation and you will have no problem getting into those sexy Kama Sutra positions. They are excellent for long hours of experimentation.

Additionally, there are display wedges for women or men to use for kinkier play. Placing yourself on your hands and knees or having your lover there on one of these blocks would be perfect for evenings when you wanted to appreciate their body, give them a good paddling, or just pay extra attention to them from behind.

Paddles: Speaking of paddles, there is something very erotic about this type of play for many people. It is not for everyone, but if you are curious, you might find that you like it. If you or your lover is placed on your hands and knees, this leaves the other one open to use of the paddle.

If you are going to use the paddle start out slow. Rub the edge of the back of the paddle against your partner’s ass. Let them feel the sensation of the material. Once you’ve done this give them a little smack. Do not hit them hard at first. The slow smacks should build up and become harder and more repetitive.

You can alternate cheeks as to ensure the sensations are being accurately placed and too much pressure is not being applied to one side. You might not believe it now, but it is entirely possible to make your lover orgasm just by the touch of your paddle, whip, crop, or another instrument of torture.

Massage Oils: If you are going to provide a sexy spanking for your lover this Halloween it is only fair to end the event with a delicious massage. However, using your hands is so cliche. Show your partner how interested you are in them by only using your tongue.

Massage their warm flesh on the spots where you had spanked them earlier. Kiss, nip, and nibble that sensitive flesh. You can add oil to your lover’s skin to provide a sweet taste for you and some warm or hot tingling attention for them. The combination of your tongue and oils that heat up will vibrate against their flesh and give you an intimate and worthwhile night you will not soon forget.

We have just the toys you need to fulfill the ultimate Halloween night of desire.

It is important to understand that diagnosis of ADD/ADHD requires a considerable amount of observation as well as thorough psychological and medical testing. There are also diagnosis made on reporting basis such as self-reporting, reporting from parents, teachers and caregivers. It is common for individuals to be diagnosed with ADD/ADHD by the family physician and without going through much discussion on the condition of the person. Diagnosis have also been made without further testing crucial to clarify that the symptoms are really ADD/ADHD and not other common disorder as well as undesirable behavior.

The condition of being misdiagnosis, be it over diagnosis and under diagnosis have been causing great problems for the medical community even worse for society that has to deal with deviant behavior etc. Proper diagnosis is needed to ensure sanity for all.

Many common disorders can mimic the symptoms of ADD/ADHD resulting in an incorrect diagnosis if adequate care is not taken to compare the symptoms of each individual carefully with every available condition rubric. The symptoms of ADD/ADHD are so obtuse that they can easily be attributed to depression, anxiety, specific learning disabilities, early onset bipolar disorder, Tourette’s Syndrome, food allergies, head injuries, fetal alcohol syndrome, dental problems (such as abscessed root canals or mercury toxicity from fillings), family dynamics issues, grief or trauma, and even simple poor parenting!

There is really not many cases of real ADD/ADHD diagnosis out there.

Due to the fact that other disorders have symptoms very similar to ADD/ADHD, a better method of diagnosis is required to ensure preciseness of diagnosis.

Differential diagnosis is a process that so far has proven correct diagnosis of ADD/ADHD.

Merriam-Webster’s Medical Dictionary defines differential diagnosis as “the distinguishing of a disease or condition from others presenting similar symptoms”. Essentially, the process takes place in the following manner:

Before anything else, the clinician investigates the history and physical examination of the patient so that possible disorders can be list out. This process is called differential diagnosis and it is a clinical decision making. With all the possible disorder listed, related tests are carried out on the patient- Encyclopedia Brittanica.

Perhaps the most important part of the process is when “the clinician then decides what tests to order to help refine the list or identify the specific disease”. In many cases, this refinement never takes place. Conditions such as food allergies, toxicity, and psychological issues are rarely investigated. There are several reasons for this. It is often difficult for a physician to confront a parent with what may be a display of symptoms due to poor parenting, abuse, or familial stress, and many physicians realize that the work involved in teaching everyone involved with someone diagnosed with a nutritional deficiency or toxicity is more than some families will commit to. Additionally, it’s ok to have ADD/ADHD, it’s not ok to be in the early stages of developing a major mental disorder.

Suggesting that parents change their method of parenting can be an impossible mission.

It is hard to accept that a diagnosis points to mental illness.

Most people tend to ignore the necessity of meeting nutritional needs as well as addressing allergies and sensitivities. Not many will make effort to avoid toxic substance either.

It’s easier to medicate.

This simply bailing out using medication is causing dangerous misdiagnosis. Correct diagnosis of ADD/ADHD consist of careful examination on what is causing the symptoms and this may takes up much time, energy and resources.

Raising an ADHD child can be extremely difficult for the entire family. Therefore, learning parenting skills that are specific to raising a child suffering from ADHD is extremely important, not only for the health of the child, but also for the relationship between child and parent. Joining a support group that is both educational and socially supportive is extremely useful; it is within this framework that parents can learn how to deal with their special children and be effective.

It is extremely important for parents to set clear goals for themselves and their child, and then be as consistent as possible.

A working parent-child relationship is essential in any family, but it is doubly important with ADHD children. For a relationship to work, you need both time and a willingness to listen. Spend at least fifteen minutes to half an hour a day with your child. Ask him or her about their day, have a conversation or eat dinner together. Simple things like these are the most important in keeping good connections with your child.

Even though it may seem like an ADHD child exhibits more types of bad behavior than good ones, it is important for you to emphasize good behavior as much as possible. The more you do so, the better their self-concept will be.

When your child has misbehaved, try to stay as calm as you possibly can. The more out of control you act, the less seriously your discipline will be taken. Make sure that when rules are broken there are very clear consequences, which should be delivered in an unemotional manner. Yelling at a child with ADHD is extremely destructive.

Give your child choices: do not tell them what to eat, wear and do. The more choices they have, the more independent they will be as time goes on.

Make sure that the relationship behaviors modeled between the parents are good ones. Children watch what you do, and will imitate what they see later on in life. Make sure to give them a positive example.

It is important for you, as parents, to have time for yourselves as well; otherwise it is only natural that you will become stressed out. This is especially true for mothers who always feel they need to give 100% of themselves at all times. Even as a mother, you are an individual and need to take care of yourself as well. This will help you stay calm when dealing with difficult situations and disciplining your child.

Remember to be strict, but kind. Being firm is good; however, being overly firm or overly passive are not. Make sure your children recognize the difference.

I want to share some of my reasons for sponsoring New Tang Dynasty Television’s (NTDTV) Chinese New Year Spectacular. Of course, I am Chinese, and the Chinese New Year is part of my tradition and heritage. I love the colorful costumes, beautiful music and dance depicting ancient myths and legends. It reminds me of stories from my childhood. In addition, the cause, the people involved and the performances themselves have touched me profoundly, they have a healing effect in more than one sense.

Most people in the West don’t know that traditional Chinese culture has really been destroyed by the communist regime. What people nowadays get in China is very shallow as it has been stripped of all its deeper inner meaning and is laden with communist party culture. So while there are other Chinese New Year Galas, I find that only NTDTV has been able to recreate a New Year celebration that is truly authentic, and at the same time has a charming multicultural flavor. It is performed in dozens of cities around the world, and people everywhere enjoy it tremendously. It contributes to greater harmony and understanding between people and cultures.

Right now Chinese society is in the process of a great transformation as millions of Chinese have quit from the communist party during the past 24 months. China is facing the abolishment of communism and a return to its rich cultural heritage. I believe that the annual NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular is promoting the spreading of traditional Chinese culture globally and helps speed up the rebirth of traditional values in Mainland China.

Another reason why I sponsor this event is because there is a spiritually uplifting energy in these wonderful music performances. It is actually a healing energy. I am a doctor of Oriental Medicine and also have a western degree in Neuroscience. I practice vibrational energy medicine as my profession, and I am very sensitive to healing vibrations. The pure energy produced during these shows is very powerful. During the entire show, I find my mind, body and soul are deeply resonating with the music waves. I realized that this is not just a show for entertainment, it goes way beyond ordinary art performances.

In my practice I am seeing increasing numbers of people suffering from different kinds of mental and physical problems. I believe they are a result of our fast-moving, competitive, materialistic, and stressful lifestyle which causes imbalances in the autonomic nervous systems and blocking mental, physical and emotional energy pathways. Many people, including teenagers, listen to noisy, meaningless and mind-disturbing music, which I feel are also contributing to psychological problems including ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, and more. Many studies indicate that mental stress and negative emotions can cause physical diseases. This is already a common reality today.

One of the treatment modalities in my practice is sound therapy. It involves a complex process of playing certain sounds and frequencies to a patient and monitoring their brain activity to determine what is most harmonious and beneficial in changing their condition. Many patients, including stroke victims, have responded extremely well and recovered from a variety of serious problems using sound therapy.

From my many years of working with sound and music I can tell what kinds of sound and music promote healing and well-being. I found that the NTDTV performances have such an effect. I have shared the DVD of last year’s show with many friends and patients as well.

I plan to close my office on January 9th and take my family to the Los Angeles show at the Kodak Theater. I hope you can see it at a theater near your home. Enjoy the Chinese New Year at its best and have a healing experience! http://shows.ntdtv.com
